Training of Trainers in Life Skills

Training of Trainers in Life Skills FDP conducted by NIT, Trichy
for 5 days (27-02-2017 to 03-03-2017)
The programme started at 9.00 am with an orientation of the Objectives of the Programme and then the sessions started with Education & training of Life Skills, then the session went on with discussions in related topics like Soft Skills & Personality Development, Conflict Resolution & Negotiation  Skills, Coping with Stress Management, Achievement Motivation, Assertiveness and Emotional Resilience, Thinking Skills, Critical Thinking & Social Responsibility, Leadership Communication, Interpersonal Relations and Dynamics, Problem Solving & Decision Making, Personal Effectiveness & Professionalism for Teachers and E-Competence & Life Skills
The sessions went well and the concept of KTD (Knowledge, training & development) was discussed and how it will affect the student community was elaborated. We all understood the competency types, viz. Cognitive competency, intrapersonal competency & interpersonal competency
Hilton Paligrino’s Framework of Life Skills was also discussed, WHO’s Life Skill Sets including decision making, problem solving, creative ideology, interpersonal skills, communication, self awareness, empowerment & coping with stress management were also discussed.
UNESCO’s International Commission on Education for 21st Century has led to Education for knowing, doing things, living together and being clear which are the four pillars of learning.  With respect to soft skills interpretation and planning are called as soft ones whereas implementation and realization are classified as hard ones.
Coming to personality establishment of one’s own identity, aims, goals, anticipated career life style and role in community were considered predominant and physical, mental, emotional values, attitudes, interests and motivational factors would follow them next.
Mechanics and pragmatics of writing were also discussed and attitude towards failures & mistakes, initiatives, leadership, enthusiasm, self discipline, sound physical & mental health, desireness to pleasure & excitement and gravity in one’s knowledge & skills were also briefly explained followed by questions & answers.
Bloom’s taxonomy was taught with cognitive & affective actions. Thinking was given prime importance and all the participants had a well structured lecturing before them. Critical and their importance in the present world was keenly discussed and how this quality would enable us to shape the present day generation was also tactfully taken.

On the whole the entire five day session went enriching our thought provoking behaviour and performances. We all gained from the programme extremely.
